I was given a certificate for a "Discover SCUBA Diving" trip from Ocean Planet Adventures as a wedding gift. We finally cashed it in the other day and HOT DAMN IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!
We filled out a page or 2 of paperwork, threw on some wetsuits and jumped on the boat off into Clayoquot sound. I had thought we were going to just be wading into the water right in the harbor but there was a beautiful cruise to start it off. After some basic skills and safety info on the boat we were in the water.
We dove much deeper than I had expected and were completely confident in our instructors. I was blown away by the sea-life out here.
I assure you we saw a ton of cool stuff; Sea Cucumbers, a strange little guy called a decorator crab, tons of fish and starfish and even an octopus!!! I was blown away by the kelp forests we swam right through.
These pictures aren't from our actual trip but from the Ocean Planet Facebook Profile.
If you've ever thought about diving I recommend getting in touch with Ocean Planet and signing up for a discover SCUBA trip. Truly a "no experience necessary" trip that I'll never forget. The trip was about 3.5 hours from arrival to getting my wetsuit off. Call Ocean Planet in Tofino at 250 725 2221.
On another note... this is kickass!!!
If you like the funky stuff don't miss Erica and "The Love Club" Wednesday nights at 9 on Long Beach Radio.
