New Years Eve in Tofino and Ucluelet 2010-2011

Hi West Coast, Christmas is behind us and 2011 is just around the corner.  I'm sore from my first surf in a while and little run down from some late nights of rum, eggnog and other holiday fun.  There's a lot going on this Friday For New Years so I'll try to make this as informative as I can.

1) Ucluelet's ANAF is hosting 4 locals bands for a New Years Eve party. Tickets are 20$ and we'll be giving some away during the morning show this week.  Ticket can be bought at the ANAF

2) Tofino Legion has DJ Neighbour.  LBR's very own Erica, reccomends them highly, which means it must be good times and dance-tacular. Tickets for Legion events tend to be at Tofitian and the Long Beach Surf Shop

3) The Weigh West has a huge 5 course meal for $45 going on for dinner, then Nye Sullivan and crew will be rockin' the pub. Call the Weigh West for info/ reservations at 250 725 3277

4) The Black Rock Resort in Ukee will be hosting a party in the Float Lounge. Featuring entertainment from Headwater. Call the Black Rock @ 250 726 4800

5)The Maquinna will have Johny Jenkins, see the FaceBook event page HERE

I'm sure there's more but that'll get you started.  There's a lot of hockey this week including on Friday. The Canucks and the Canadian IIHF U20 boys are on the ice. We'll have the Canucks live on Long Beach Radio but You'll have to go to the pub for the World Juniors.. Oilers fan Kirk Unger learned the hard way that you don't bet against the Canucks with me.

Hospice Radio-a-Thon Follow Up

Well, the 3rd annual Pacific Rim Hospice Society Radio-a-Thon is behind us... and I am pleased-as-punch to report that is has been the most successful yet!!!  A quick tally has put the donations at about $7000 for the one day event.  You can see all the donated incentive items on the radio-a-thon page here.  I just want to thank all the donors, volunteers, entertainers, media and whatnot who make the event such a success. The Westerly wrote a great follow-up piece here.  I've put some "greatest hits" bits together below... in no particular order.  Thanks again, everyone and hope to do it all again, even  better, next year.

Here's the big thank you I gave Wil... Hope no-one posts this somewhere our wives' might see it

3rd Annual Pacific Rim Hospice Society Fund Raising Radio-Athon Friday December 10th on Long Beach Radio

Our 3rd Annual Pacific Rim Hospice Society Radio-athon is coming up on Dec. 10th.  This page is set up so I can build the content that will be on our main page soon.  For more info on Hospice visit http://www.pacificrimhospice.ca/

Where You Can Give
During the Radio-Athon you will be able to donate to the cause at a number of places.  First, you can donate by credit card 24-7 at http://www.pacificrimhospice.ca/. The Ucluelet CO-OP has a collections bin at the main entrance from 11am- 1pm and again after 3pm hospice volunteers will be on site at the CO-OP to collect donations and supply gifts to donors.  In Tofino you can come visit me at Long Beach Radio World Headquarters at the end of the dock or arrange for Kim to pick up your contribution at your home or workplace. You can also drop off donations at Breakers on Campbell St.
Hopefully the map/ photo below will help if you're looking for the station.  You can call the Studio @ 250 725 4411 and I'll help you out or dispatch Kim to deliver.
A shoddy map to the studio, X marks the spot

An amazing photo of the studio's location courtesy of Tofino Photography (1st street dock in Tofino is off camera, right)
The Pacific Rim Hospice Society has already received generous donations from; The Long Beach Surf Shop, Pacific Sands Resort, The Long Beach Golf Course, Creative Salmon and many more to list... I'll add them as I get the info.  Thank You for your support.

There are a number of great gifts to give away to folks who donate to Hospice during the event.  Some items will be given away to donors who donate over a set amount while supplies last. Others are set up as more of a silent auction.  You can bid by calling the station @ 250 725 4411 or emailing me @ geoff@longbeachradio.ca

Lastly, recording artist Wil is donating a guitar that will be raffled off to a lucky donor... Not just any guitar, but one that Wil has used on tour, every donation during the event will get one entry into the draw... More on Wil below.  You can catch him at the Legion on Saturday, tickets are available at The Tofitian and The Long Beach Surf Shop. Check Wil out on Facebook
