I'll post something about this again same day but I thought I'd try to start getting the word out regarding an upcoming large-scale earthquake drill. ShakeOut BC joins a number of other regional Earthquake preparedness groups on October 20 at 10:20 am for a one minute drill. Long Beach Radio will be running audio similar to the video below at that time.
You can register your business, family or organization and get more information about getting involved at http://www.shakeoutbc.ca/
With this spring's Tsunami and a couple noticable tremblors recently earthquake preparedness is something that should be on our minds. To take a quote from a LBR blog I posted one month after Japan's quake;
"The main positive I saw immediately after the event was increased dialog about tsunami preparedness and awareness. Conversations in the street and on the web often included mention of survival kits being built, even some tsunami drills... 30 days later and that chatter is behind us and we're one month closer to our own impending Cascadia Subduction Zone quake. Follow-up meetings may still be in the works and some individuals may have changed their personal outlook but, by and large, little seems to have changed in the community psyche. Whether Human Nature, The Nuclear Situation in Japan, The Hockey Season, A Few Sunny Days, or something else is responsible I cannot say. I don't think it's a good situation regardless of the cause."
