I've been talking about it quite a bit today but here's the official text from Parks Canada regarding the storm that is expected to roll in tonight.
Parks Canada has issued a storm event
advisory, warning the public to use caution on beaches, shorelines and
ocean waters in the park on Wednesday, November 23rd to Friday, November 25
th.
During this time period, storm-force winds are expected to reach up to 90
kilometres an hour and storm swells are forecasted to reach up to 8 meters
in height, according to Environment Canada. These conditions could results
in flooded parking lots, fallen trees, floating logs, and extremely
dangerous surf conditions. The most dangerous period of the day is likely
to be at high tide around mid-morning.
Visitors interested in viewing the storm are advised to use the following
safe locations:
· Kwisitis Visitor Centre’s Observation Deck at Wickaninnish Beach
· Florencia Bay Lookout
Depending of the severity of the storm, select beach parking lots and beach
areas in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve may be temporarily closed to
protect public safety. An updated Information Bulletin will be issued if
any closures are necessary. Until that time, all areas of Pacific Rim
National Park Reserve remain open.
