According to the United States Geological Survey a magnitude 5.7 earthquake occured off the coast near Tofino and Ucluelet around noon today NO TSUNAMI IS EXPECTED.

At 12:06 PM Pacific Standard Time on February 4, an earthquake with preliminary magnitude 5.7 occurred 90 miles/145 Km southwest of Port Alice, British Columbia .
The magnitude is such that a tsunami IS NOT EXPECTED. This will be the only WCATWC message issued for this event.
The location and magnitude are based on preliminary information. Further information will be issued by the United States Geological Survey or the appropriate regional seismic network.
